Specification Sheet – Panariagroup PROTECT®Porcelain Stoneware

High-performance porcelain tiles and slabs with enhanced “antibacterial” activity, capable of reducing up to 99.9% of bacterial strains Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus (per ISO 22196 or ASTM E3031-15 standards), thanks to the integrated silver-based Microban® technology, registered under the European Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Reg. No. 528/2012).

Antibacterial Porcelain Tiles and Slabs

  • Active continuously, 24 hours a day, day and night

  • Effective in both light and darkness, without requiring UV lamps

  • Acts directly on the working surface of the material

  • Permanently embedded during the industrial firing process at over 1200°C (not a post-firing treatment)

  • Long-lasting performance: resistant to wear and effective for the full life cycle of the ceramic products, with no need for reapplication over time

Available Finishes and Series

Antibacterial porcelain tiles and slabs are available:

  • In all color options across product series, including darker shades (Microban® technology integrated in PROTECT® products does not cause discoloration of darker tones)

Installation and Cleaning Guidelines

The installation of PROTECT® products should be carried out using standard methods, in accordance with local regulations, industry codes, and the Panariagroup Technical Manuals.

For cleaning and maintenance of PROTECT® porcelain and laminated porcelain stoneware, refer to the general guidelines provided in Panariagroup’s product catalogs and technical manuals.

Since the antibacterial action of Microban® active agents occurs on the surface of the tiles, it is essential to prevent the formation of residues or films that may block contact between bacteria and the ceramic surface. Therefore:

  • Do not use wax-containing or film-forming detergents

  • Rinse thoroughly after cleaning

  • Avoid applying resins, waxes, sealers, or protective coatings of any kind
