Dubravnaya Subway

Russia’s sixth most populous city and an important centre of trade, industry and culture: Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, overlooks the west bank of the Volga River and has a climate with considerable temperature differences between summer and winter. An efficient transport network, which includes the metro, enables citizens to freely move around the area.

For the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Cotto d’Este covered one of the busiest metro stations in Kazan: Dubravnaya. The Cadore collection was chosen for the project: in particular the warm, welcoming natural wood-coloured finish, featuring variations in relief between the typical fibres of raw wood planks and the transverse tracks. Its natural, almost rustic effect and authentic appearance impressed the clients. They were also amazed by the high technical performance of ceramic wood designed for outdoor use. The 20 mm thickness was chosen to guarantee the slabs an unlimited lifespan, no risk of breakage, and infinite tensile strength compared to traditional stoneware, as well as resistance to weathering and wear.
